Simple Success

Where does God have you today? What roles and responsibilities has the Lord given you? And how about your dreams and your heart’s desires? Many of these questions and their answers indicate God’s directions for your life. That’s why I am encouraging you to take time to discover what the Bible says about your roles… and then pray about them. God’s road to success is quite simple: As you faithfully follow Him with all your heart and are obedient to fulfill His will for you, you will be blessed. You will enjoy success. Yes, you’re human and will have moments when you fail, fall, or stay in one place for a while. But as you rely on God and do what He asks of you through His Word and prayer, He will give you the desire and confidence—and power—to move on and enjoy life in Him.

Lord, as I look into Your Word, my heart is moved. Open my eyes to Your will. Strengthen me to step out on the path to greater faithfulness so I can better carry out Your will. Bless me in the ways You choose. Amen.

Reflecting God’s Light

Your desires and choices as one who walks in the light are governed by your prior determination to please God and not yourself. When you do this and bear the fruit of goodness, righteousness, and truthfulness, you reflect His light to those in darkness. God says You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:14-16). Imagine! Just as you are able to physically assist someone in the dark by giving them a flashlight, you are able to help others as you reflect the light that is yours as a child of the Supreme Light.

Lord, I walk in Your light with gratitude and awe. I desire to share Your light with the world by making righteous and holy decisions. Use me, Lord, so that I can glorify You. Amen.

Looking Up for Hope

The hope we derive from the promise of Jesus’ coming helps us to wait patiently. When He arrives, He will set everything in order. He will make things right. He will correct all abuses. He will bring deliverance from our suffering. Let the certainty of the Lord’s return encourage your heart as you endure hard times, moments that seem endless, and the unknowns of tomorrow. Where is your gaze fixed? Downward… on the suffering, you must endure? Or upward… in the direction from which Jesus will come? Your patience will be helped when you trust the promise of His return. You and I live with “what is,” but we have the promise of “what is to be.” And in-between is the waiting. You can fret, worry, and pace… or you can put on a heart of patience (Colossians3:12 NASB). Which will it be?

Lord, I’m making the decision to be still and to trust in Your promises. Today is hard, but I will wait for the rain of Your love to fall upon me. I will wait with hope for Your grace to show me the way You want me to go. Amen.

Trust God for All of Life

Whenever your life seems to be out of control or you feel like the world and its pressures are crashing in on you, realize and remember God is sovereign. He is in charge, and He is a faithful, flawless administrator. He is working out His good and acceptable and perfect will. His purpose in saving you and showering a continuing multitude of blessings upon you has been established. As God’s own dear child, your day and your future are secure in Him due to His kindness and mercy. God’s blessings are yours! Your heart’s response to God’s plan of redemption for you will always be one of reveling in the truth and giving unending praise and thanksgiving to Him for all He has and will give you “according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7).

Lord, as I look into Your Word, I want to thank You for Your concern and care for the details of my life. Today has its difficulties and stress. May I be faithful to trust in Your perfect and personal management of the world around me… and me! Amen.

Your Precious Privilege

Pursuing godliness is all about Jesus Christ. He is the mystery of godliness, the mystery is once hidden but is now revealed. As a believer in Christ and as a woman after God’s own heart, you have the ability—and the precious privilege—to live for Him and strive to be like Him. Yes, you can live a godly life in and through Jesus Christ. Put plainly and simply, this is piety, a deep-seated loyalty and devotion to Christ that affects your conduct and commitment to spiritual duties and practices. What a wonderful reality, and what a wonderful possession to share with others! May you and I never let the passing of time crowd out this amazing message of the awesome mystery of Christ—the hope of glory—in us. As a woman pursuing godliness, please don’t lose sight of the truth and power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Lord, I’m so thankful to grow in faith as the mystery of godliness is revealed in Jesus Christ. What a tremendous gift to be part of the living, growing, believing church that serves You. Thank You. Amen.
