As a Bible Study teacher, I am passionate about encouraging personal study of God’s word. Whether we are sowing seeds in our home, in the church, or in our communities, the power of our investment comes from being full of the Word of God and His Spirit. Often many don’t know where to start or even how to sort out the jewels within the Bible’s pages. Denise J. Hughes, author of the Word Writer series gently shepherds the reader through the scriptures with short personal stories, and then questions that draw out what the Spirit may be saying personally.

Going through this study not only lends to growing in knowledge of the book of Philippians, but will serve the learner who is going through any book of the Bible this way. It’s as if you have a tutor teaching you how to observe and apply the scriptures on your own. The encouragement to write out the passages grants more meditation time and a greater retention of the Living Word.

The book is beautiful and encouraging. I highly recommend it for personal or group study.

Denise writes with a voice that honestly invites women to sit down, exhale, and then breathe in the very words of God. The format of this devotional is so refreshing. The book of Philippians has consistently come up in my personal reading this year, yet I wasn’t retaining it. Doing this study and writing out the verses really brought verses alive in new ways. I am doing this study with women who are veterans in in-depth study Bible studies, as well as some women who are new to studying the Bible. It’s a good fit for all.
