What Happens When I Talk to God?

The Power of Prayer for Boys and Girls

54321( 5 )

Combining her passion for prayer with her love for little ones, beloved writer and speaker Stormie Omartian teams with talented illustrator Shari Warren to share an important message: “It’s never too early to teach a child to pray.”

Stormie encourages children to develop the life-changing practices of talking to God every day and explains prayer in easy-to-understand ways. With examples taken directly from the lives of young boys and girls, she helps kids get to know God, thank Him for His love and care, and ask for His help in tough times. Stormie also touches upon forgiveness, the power of praying with others, and having a relationship with Jesus as she assures children that their prayers do make a difference.

Bright, contemporary watercolors depicting a broad spectrum of children accompany the text to present a beautiful picture of growing closer to God in prayer. For children ages 3 to 7.

Editorial Reviews

"What Happens When I Talk to God? is a book for adults to read with their children. The artwork by Shari Warren is bright, colorful, inviting and attractive. The best part of the illustrations is the children themselves. They are from every race and as the mother and grandmother of a racially mixed family, I applaud this aspect of the book. "

"Stormie Omartian has authored this wonderful book teaching kids about God and what happens when they talk to Him through prayer. My three daughters aged 9, 6, and 3 love it and the reminders of God's love and His listening ear have been good for Mum and Dad too! The illustrations by Shari Warren are enchanting. It is a beautiful book with a powerful message which children of all ages will grasp and it makes a lovely gift to treasure."

"The gentle, friendly illustrations of children of a diversity of races praying to God adds to this perfect visual touch to this picturebook, highly recommended for Christian parents to share with young children."
The Midwest Book Review

"This book has a lot going for it. First, the children are ethnically diverse. Second, it does a good job of showing children when to pray, why pray, how to pray, and what to pray about."
Church Libraries

"I loved this book and would highly encourage everyone who has a child in their life that would like to see have more communication with the Lord, and more understanding of the importance of talking with Him, to purchase this book. What Happens When I Talk to God? is wonderfully written and speaks truth about prayer and communication with God in a creative yet straightforward way that my child can understand. I read it to my 8–year–old daughter and she loved it and remained interested in it from beginning to end. The illustrations are colorful, adorable and are a perfect complement to Stormie’s writing. I would recommend this book to any parent who wants their child to understand the entire concept of what prayer is and how communication with God is an everyday, natural part of our lives.”

“Gratitude and repentance are large issues in this delightful new children’s book on prayer. Stormie Omartian writes about them in a way the smallest reader can understand. She communicates her love of prayer to them in clear and encouraging ways. Just imagine, if a child can absorb this message when they are really little, their lives will be transformed. The combination of Stormie’s warmth and the wonderful illustrations is unbeatable. I heartily recommend it.”

“The book is good! I pretty much liked everything about the book. I learned that talking to God is a good thing, because if you don’t talk to God, he won’t know you want. I learned that doing the right thing won’t get you into trouble and I can talk to God everyday and anywhere about anything. I am in the second grade and I used this book for my book report in class. I do not know what my teacher will give me for my grade but I know it was a good book anyway I learned a lot. I know how to trust God because I read it in your book. Thank you for all that you did in writing this book.”
