Thank God for Atheists

How the Greatest Skeptics Led Me to Faith

“The greatest authors of atheism did more to push me toward belief in God than any Christian apologist writer.”  —Timothy Morgan

After a decade of major disappointments, Timothy Morgan was ready to reject God. Atheism offered an escape—an opportunity to dismiss God permanently.

But as Morgan delved into the thinking of great atheists past and present, he was stunned. In book after book, he found their reasons for rejecting God to be intellectually unfulfilling.

In Thank God for Atheists he candidly shares his journey by letting atheists speak for themselves, examining their logic to see whether it holds up or not. Along the way, deals with these key questions:

  • What are the key elements of the atheist worldview?
  • Who are the leading modern-day atheists, and what are they saying?
  • How can you effectively respond to atheism?

You’ll find this a personal and thoughtful book on why the evidence for God is much more compelling than the evidence against Him.

A Word from the Author

"After watching innumerable debates on religion researching this book, I noticed audience members treating the discussion like a Sunday matchup between the Patriots and the Jets. There were cheers and jeers when their favored speaker landed a powerful point or when their shot was blocked by an undeniable rebuttal. I hope you find much more than mere entertainment in the pages of my book though. It's my sincere wish that for some people this book will be life changing."
Timothy Morgan, author of Thank God for Atheists

"Tim Morgan is frank about his disappointment with God and the allure of atheism. This book is a fair and honest exploration of what the best minds in atheism have to say—and why their worldview is found wanting."
Josh McDowell, author of Evidence That Demands a Verdict, #13 on Christianity Today's list of "The Top 50 Books That Have Shaped Evangelicals"

"Ever wondered if we can be skeptical about skepticism and what its history is? Then Tim Morgan's Thank God for Atheists is for you. Here is a walk through the terrain of skeptical arguments with a former skeptic who knows how they think. It is a fascinating and important tour of a world many people do not understand. A careful read will equip you for meaningful conversation with anyone that doubts and says, 'Why would you believe that?' Turnabout is fair play and this book shows why."
Darrell Bock, professor of New Testament Studies, Dallas Theological Seminary

"Sometimes faith need to get shaken in order to be rebuilt stronger than before. Tim Morgan's spiritual and intellectual journey to rediscovering his faith (with the unlikely help of Dawkins, Hitchens, and Harris) will help anyone searching for solid ground to build from."
Justin Brierley, host of radio show Unbelievable?, senior editor Premier Christianity magazine

"While I disagree with much of Tim's arguments in his book as many atheists like myself will relate to, I did find this to be an insightful and easy to read book. A must-read for atheists who are interested in the struggles and triumphs that religion can cause in the mind of a believer."
Mike Mello, president of F.A.C.T.S. (Florida Atheists, Critical Thinkers & Skeptics)

"This is a must-read book for Christians—it's an excellent, concise look at the atheist worldview that is becoming increasingly influential in our culture. Tim has done a fantastic job of boiling the issues down to the most pertinent points every Christian should understand. Thank God for Atheists is an especially valuable guide for Christian parents who want to be equipped to discuss those points with their kids."
