3 Short Prayers to Draw Closer to God Throughout Your Day

Life is much better when prayer is an ongoing part of it. It helps if we can take a few moments at various times throughout each of our busy days to pause for a refreshing and comforting time of communicating with our heavenly Father. And also to set our heart right with a word from His Holy Scripture. It is my desire that these short prayers will motivate you to move into more extensive prayer and to spend more time with the Lord, who loves you so much that He wants to hear what is on your heart and move powerfully in your life.

Prayer 1 – Lord, Draw Me into a Closer Walk with You

Lord, I draw close to You today, grateful that You will draw close to me as You have promised in Your Word (James 4:8). I long to dwell in Your presence, and I want to know You in every way You can be known. Teach me what I need to learn in order to know You better. I don’t want to be a person who is always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth (2 Timothy 3:7). I want to know the truth about who You are, because I know that You are near to all who call upon You in truth (Psalm 145:18).

I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

Prayer 2 – When I Need God’s Provision and Protection

Lord, You are King and Lord over all my life. I surrender everything I have to You because I recognize that every good thing I have has been given to me by You as a sign of Your goodness, mercy, and love (James 1:17). Thank You that You are my Provider and You provide everything I need. Lord, I praise You as my Protector. Thank You for hiding me under the shadow of Your wings, from the wicked who oppress me, from my deadly enemies who surround me (Psalm 17:8-9). I give praise to You, for You have delivered my soul from death. You have kept my feet from falling, so that I may walk before You in the light of the living (Psalm 56:12-13).

Those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.

Prayer 3 – Embracing the Moment

Lord, help me to embrace the moments of my life that are hard to get my arms around. Enable my eyes to see You in them. Help me to always acknowledge the abundance of Your goodness to me. I lift to You the deepest struggles in my life. I trust You to open my eyes to see all You have for me in them. Reveal to me the fullness of it all. Thank You that I can be filled with the joy of Your presence in every step I take, because You have given me the light I need for whatever step I am on.

In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul.
