Becoming Who God Intended answers the heart questions of those who are deeply frustrated with their Christian life:

  • Is it “normal” that my emotional experience doesn’t match up with the Bible?
  • Why do I feel “alive” only when I engage in habitual sins and compulsions?
  • Do I just have to live with anxiety, anger, shame, and depression?

Every person’s “heart life” is filled with pictures of reality—often false ones, says David Eckman. But as believers use the truth of their new identity in Christ to develop biblical pictures, they will be able to truly accept God’s acceptance of them, be freed from negative emotions and habitual sins...and finally experience a life that matches what Scripture promises.

Reader Reviews

“God has given David powerful insights to help people discover who they are in Christ and show them what a huge difference that truth can make in everyday life. Very biblical and helpful!”
Chip Ingram, President, Walk Thru the Bible Ministries and author of God: As He Longs for You to See Him

“I strongly urge you to get Becoming Who God Intended and put it to work in your life.”
Josh McDowell

“The truths contained in David’s book Becoming Who God Intended have been a great encouragement to me personally. David Eckman is a man you can trust. Professionally competent and biblically keen, his teaching resonates with God’s wisdom and compassion!”
Stu Weber, author of Tender Warrior and Four Pillars of a Man’s Heart

“In Becoming Who God Intended, Dr. David Eckman has provided a roadmap to show you how to live out your identity in Christ by allowing the Father’s love to transform you. The book digs deeply into your life, showing you how your family background has brought you to the place where you are today and then making clear how to move on to where you want to be.

“I especially like what Dr. Eckman writes about the imagination. I’m a big believer in submitting our imaginations to the Holy Spirit in order to allow Him to ‘reprogram our minds’ about who our Abba–Father really is. We as evangelicals have been so extremely cautioned about ‘subjectivity’ in our Christian walk that we’ve thrown out a lot of good things as a result—but I believe the imagination is an untapped area where the Holy Spirit can renew us and bring healing.

“I enjoyed reading Becoming Who God Intended and found it both encouraging and helpful to me personally. I believe you will find this to be true as well as you seek to grow in your life as a Christian.”
Steve McVey, President, Grace Walk Ministries and author of A Divine Invitation

“It is an incredible book and is changing my life. I have never been able to totally corral my emotions, which causes problems at work. The insights in this book are truly inspired from God. Thank you for your candor and the perseverance to write this book.”
Nancy Gunsauls
